I was working in the studio on Friday morning and looked up to see a brand new calf with its mom. It hadn’t even gotten up from where it lay yet. Within a few minutes it had risen to its feet, fallen, risen and fallen again. It was so cute. I was busy taking photographs hoping for another image to add to my cattle series.

The Caradon Team of Carolee Clark and Donna Beverly are working on a new painting series of cows. Carolee’s studio in Philomath, Oregon, just outside of Corvallis sits on the edge of a neighboring farm. Here the cows come within feet of her window, munching on the grass, and in the fall looking for apples from the apple tree. Donna has raised cows and enjoys their sweet personalities. It seems a natural fit for this new series of paintings.
