I did a painting a week or so ago of three birds (budgies) called “Harmonizing” and really liked it so I wanted to do it a little larger.  Susan and Charley gifted me a 12″ x 24″ canvas which I thought would be perfect for a line of birds.

The name “Be Yourself” is a reflection of the one bird facing away.  He is acting a little different and looks a little different from everyone else.  I happen to think this is a good thing.

THANK YOU!
I wanted to thank everyone for coming out to see my work at the Clothesline Sale of Art yesterday.  I had great comments, sales and conversations.   I sincerely thank you all!

I know that some of you who live too far away would have liked to be there and wished me well.  Thank you as well.  It helps!

Can you believe that I found this bird on Google Street view?  When in Venice, paint the birds 🙂  Okay, it isn’t a high resolution image, but in this case I was happy to work with the bird shape.  At first I thought it must be a crow because it was all black, but its shape wasn’t right.  I think it is a pigeon.  Click here to see the beautiful scene I ignored in order to paint the shape of a bird.

As many of you know I often paint from Google Maps street view.  Google generously allows artists to use these views as reference for painting or drawing without copyright infringement.

Other News:
The Clothesline Sale of Art was very successful even though the temperature reached 100° which is rare here in the Willamette Valley.  I want to thank everyone who came to view my art, visit and purchase my paintings!  Below is a photo of the “clothesline” on which we display our work.  Not pictured is the large six painting easel where I display larger work.
