Some have said there is a hint of Klimt in my work.  I think that we both enjoyed patterns and adding shapes.  Do you agree?  I do it because I enjoy breaking up the large areas with playful spots of interest.  I wonder why Klimt did it.

I love acrylics.  I was working on this painting with two figures and a dog and was happy with the first figure and knew the second one really needed work.  She wasn’t finished.  Then I wondered if the second one was just taking away attention from what I loved in the painting (the woman in the skirt and the dog) so took her out all together.  It was so easy to do!

I might do another painting with both figures.

Drafting is a technique that cyclists use to lessen the effects of the wind.  If one rides directly behind or behind and slightly to the side, one can save a lot of energy.  I figure that this dog is doing it instinctively.

I revisit this subject every once in a while because golf is a game I adore.  I often use the same few photographs that I took at an LPGA event in Portland, Oregon a few years back.  One isn’t suppose to take photographs at these events but I didn’t know that at the time.  I’d love to get some more photographs from which to work at some point.  Perhaps the OSU women’s team would allow me to take their photos?

The PAC 12 conference was just at Trysting Tree here in Corvallis which would have been the perfect opportunity.  However I was a bit sick at the time and the weather was miserable so I stayed in the studio and worked.

I was looking at an image of a Edgar Degas ballerina painting recently and thought it would be fun to use something of his as inspiration for a painting. I looked at some of his work on line and came up with this sculpture “Spanish Dancer.”  I thought I could use incorporate this gesture.
