I was working in the studio on Friday morning and looked up to see a brand new calf with its mom.  It hadn’t even gotten up from where it lay yet.  Within a few minutes it had risen to its feet, fallen, risen and fallen again.  It was so cute.  I was busy taking photographs hoping for another image to add to my cattle series.

This painting was done for a DPW Challenge where Ann Feldman suggested we paint something outside of our windows.  Well, many of you know that I live right beside a small farm and often greet my friendly cows when I look up from my work.

I was going to paint a brown cow … honest.  I really tried but the greenish blue wash was so pretty, then I had to set it off with a little purple and orange.  You know how it goes, right?
